Pajama Day

Playing Dinosaur Roll and Race

After showing pictures from the internet of sedimentary layers of the earth, I discussed with the kids that dinosaur fossils are found in these layers of the earth.  I had pieces of a wooden 3-D dinosaur puzzle placed between 2 layers of Play-doh and the kids were supposed to have to chisel through and find the pieces.  It didn't turn out exactly that way--they just had to pull the top layer off--but it did show the prints in the Play-doh from the puzzle pieces, so maybe they learned something.  And they seemed to enjoy it.

Trying to put the pieces together

For some reason volcanoes and dinosaurs seem to go together, so I did a volcano experiment for them.

It started out slow and I thought it was going to work, but the "lava" finally started to flow.

Everyone went to the playground, but Grace stayed and watched until there was nothing left.
When we came in from recess Cache and Chance helped me get a start on the puzzle.
