What Was He Thinking??????

We're studying how Christmas is celebrated in other countries.  People in the Netherlands are visited by Sinterklass, who looks somewhat like Santa Claus, but rides a white horse.  The children put out their shoes with a letter to Sinterklass and carrots for his horse.   Sinterklass leaves candy and toys in their shoes if they've been good.  Yesterday we made paper shoes and left them on the desks and this morning we were all shocked to find that they had some candy and a whistle in them!  A couple of the kids accused me of putting the things in their shoes, but I told them I wasn't crazy enough to put whistles in there!    What was Sinterklass thinking???

Trying to work--the whistles sitting there were so tempting!

Thanksgiving Feast

Today we held our annual Pre-K/Kindergarten Feast.  The mother of one of my former students asked me how long we've been doing this--she was trying to prove to her son that we had the feast when he was in Kindergarten in 1993-94.  She was right!  We held a feast my first year teaching Kindergarten in Seymour, which was 1988-89.  I'm not sure before then if they had one or not, but I know for sure we've been holding them for 23 years.  And, yes, I'm now feasting with the children of some of my former children!

We are so thankful to the parents who provided the turkey, dressing, green beans and pumpkin pies, for the ones who helped serve our meal and for the ones who showed up to share in our fun.
