We had a fun day today! This morning the kids went down to the library where a mock presidential election was being held. The kids went in a few at a time and voted by secret ballot. After they finished voting for president they got to vote for their favorite pumpkin storybook characters. There were so many cute pumpkins! We then went back to the room and voted on the design they wanted me to carve in our pumpkin. I had 2 clowns, 2 witches, a ghost and candy corn. The ghost won out.

James came to take pictures but ended up cutting the lid for me. |

Now it's time to saw the pieces out. |

I let the kids play in centers while I cut the design, but they'd come check it out occasionally. |
|
Done! |
|
Glowing in the dark. |
After lunch recess we had our witches' brew (witches' "broom" as some of the kids kept calling it)! Yum, yum!
|
Our ingredients: blood drops, cat eyes, earthworms, cob webs, chicken toenails, cat claws, colored flies, owl eyes, skeleton teeth, bat bones, bat wings, witch fingers. |
|
My witch seems pleased with the brew! |
|
Time to eat! |
Right before we left for home we graphed their favorite brew ingredients. Most kids liked the blood drops (red hots) best.
Last week during our spider unit we made spider headbands, but the days were too windy to wear them home. We finally got to today.
